WHAT IS CRHP

Christ Renews His Parish or CRHP (pronounced "Chirp") is a spiritual renewal experience which brings adult parishioners together in small groups in order to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and each other. Since its beginning in 1969 in Parma, Ohio, Christ Renews His Parish has proven to be an effective instrument for spiritual growth in hundreds of parishes across the country. CRHP was recommended by the renewal office of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops as the primary instrument of personal and parish renewal for Catholic parishes in the U.S.A. and in Italy.

CRHP AT OLM

CRHP is coming to Our Lady of Mercy as a result of a Parish Survey and the Vision 2013 Summit in October 2010, and at the direction of the Parish Council and Adult Formation Team. Specifically, parishioners wanted a Parish-based/Parish-centered retreat experience. After much prayer and thoughtful discussion, CRHP was chosen as the best option for our Parish & a small group of 18 men and women will be sent out to be OLM’s “Team 1.”

DETAILS ON THE CRHP WEEKENDS AND FORMATION

This first group will attend a retreat weekend at OLM from Friday June 1-3, 2012 for the men and June 29-July 1, 2012 for the women, presented by a volunteer CRHP team from the Diocese of Chicago. The Renewal process continues over the next six months through “Formation”, and culminates with Team 1 presenting a weekend (Team 2), this time Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon. The second set of retreats will be held in January and February 2013. The participants from that weekend are then invited to be part of the Formation Team for the next weekend.  The ongoing format encourages participants to “pay it forward”.  When they have served on a CRHP team, individuals feel engaged and connected to the parish. With this renewed faith, parishioners feel more able to share their faith, and give of their time, talent, and treasure.  This will help to rejuvenate our parish, which was the Vision 2013 mission statement to increase parishioner engagement.

HOW CAN I BE INVOLVED?

If you are interested in being part of the 18 parishioners on Team 1 for the men’s or woman’s weekend in June/July 2012, please RSVP to Debbi Bowman @ mdccbowman@sbcglobal.net or to 630-957-8624, or attend an informational meeting on December 5th at 7pm in Room 114.  We need a dedicated team to begin the CRHP ministry at OLM, so your commitment must run from the initial weekend through Formation and the second weekend in 2013.  If you are not ready to commit, you can still help by providing food donations during the CRHP weekends.

Come join us and experience a deeper relationship with Christ, your family, friends, and fellow parishioners! CRHP is a response to the need that every follower of Christ:
